Genus Receives Order
for Multiple LYNX2® Systems
SUNNYVALE, Calif. (October 26, 2000)
Genus, Inc. (Nasdaq: GGNS) announced it has received a production
order for multiple LYNX2® systems from a major semiconductor manufacturer. The systems will be used to deposit metal films for advanced memory applications and they are scheduled for delivery starting at the end of this year.
The LYNX2 is
an advanced, single-wafer cluster tool that has been proven in high-volume
production lines. It provides a multiple-film process chamber and
up to four process modules. Genus' LYNX series machines have demonstrated high reliability in advanced semiconductor manufacturing fabs worldwide and support all of Genus' thin film technologies, including atomic layer deposition (ALD).
"While Genus is aggressively marketing our advanced technology products, including ALD, to new customers and industries, this order confirms that our core tungsten silicide business remains strong," said Dr. William Elder, Genus chairman and CEO.

This press release contains statements
that may be deemed forward-looking regarding the use of ALD technology
by the semiconductor industry. Any such forward-looking statements
are subject to a number of risks and uncertainties, including actual
acceptance of ALD technology by the marketplace, potential development
